appleyoga's 300hr Program is an established yoga teacher training of the highest calibre. Created in 2010 this training has birthed hundreds of exceptional teachers now sharing this work globally. Katy Appleton, the visionary & lead facilitator of this Program, brings her 35 years experience professionally in movement & yoga to offer a unique training. One that does not just teach yoga poses, but looks at the person as a whole, speaking to the mental, emotional and energetic state of a human being, as well as the physical structure.
Yoga is about transformation, about releasing us from what binds us. Katy understands that as a teacher we must not only have the tools to navigate this within ourselves, but also to hold space for this in others. This ethos is reflected in the content of the training. Developing knowledge of the body as a vessel is our starting place, which is the foundations of Module I, Architecture of Asana. The understanding and complexity of the mind and emotions, is looked upon in the psychology aspect of Module II, Mastery of Holding Space, as well as a concise insight into yoga philosophy, and all the tools and skills required to teach with confidence and authenticity.
The training is run over two separate modules. The first module is open to all that want to go deeper into their physical practice, with the second aimed to those wishing to become a certified 300hr yoga teacher.
Module I & II have been designed to take the student/trainee teacher on a journey to deepen their yoga studies, leaving time for absorption and practice between each phase. Both modules delivers a high-level technical skill set and cutting edge anatomical education, and also offers a profound, life-changing, and transformative experience. The modules are unique and each bring something new and exciting to the appleyoga's 300hr Program.
Module I - Architecture of Asana
Module I is an opportunity to take an in depth look at the architecture of yoga poses and breath work, asana and pranayama, enlightened through the lens of anatomy and physiology.
This module is the perfect way to develop and clean up your personal practice and offers a solid foundation to build upon in training to become a yoga teacher.
This module is suitable to all except beginners and requires a minimum of 2 years regular yoga practice.
Module II - Teacher Training
Module II moves you from student to teacher. It will provide trainees with the tools and information to teach yoga with authenticity, clarity and knowledge and offers an insight to yoga philosophy, psychology of holding space and the energy body. On this final module, trainees will be expected to bring their learning and assimilation from module I and gain experience channelling that into teaching.
This module is suitable only for trainee teachers and requires a minimum of 2-3 years regular yoga practice. (However we do review applicants on a case by case basis).

Frequently asked questions
I DON'T WANT TO TRAIN TO BE A YOGA TEACHER, CAN I DO ANY OF THE 300hr PROGRAM?
Yes you can. Module I is open to those who wish to deepen their studies in yoga but aren't wishing to teach. The full teacher training is very much aimed at those wishing to become a teacher, however if the content is of interest to you and you are still unsure as to whether you will more into yoga teaching afterwards or not, we are very welcome to that and you joining for the experience.
IF I DID MODULE I AND THEN DECIDED THAT I WANTED TO TRAIN TO TEACH COULD I?
Yes. There would be a conversation with us at this point to determine if it felt right for you to do so, and if so when it might be possible for you to complete your training.
HOW DO I KNOW IF I'M READY TO DO ANY PART OF THE 300hr PROGRAM?
It is important to have a regular weekly practice of yoga in order to deepen your knowledge and gain maximum benefit from these trainings. The specific requirements are:
Module I – Minimum of 6/12 months of regular practice is required.
Module II – It is advisable that there is a minimum of 2/3 years of regular practice, however we review trainees on a case by case basis.
You may be asked to come and take a class with Katy or another faculty member in order to get some feedback and acceptance on to the teacher training.
DO I AUTOMATICALLY GET THE 300hr YOGA TEACHER QUALIFICATION IF I ATTEND MODULE I & II?
All teacher trainees must attend all in person training days and have completed all online content. Trainees must also complete and pass a written exam, practical teaching assessment and the assigned omwork in order to gain their 300hr certification.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I HAVE TO MISS ONE DAY OF THE TRAINING?
In the event that full attendance is not possible, appleyoga allows for 2 missed days within the 300hr Program under dire circumstances. We ask that if this occurs that we are informed as soon as possible.
Missed sessions must be made up for certification of the training to be possible. These would be done through private catch up sessions with appleyoga faculty members. Private sessions must be completed within the course timeline. Private sessions will be charged at the rate offered by the relevant faculty member.
If a teacher trainee misses more than 2 days of the 300hr Program then certification will not be possible.
ONCE I AM A CERTIFIED TEACHER WILL I BE ABLE TO REGISTER AS A YOGA TEACHER WITH YOGA ALLIANCE?
On certification of the full 300hr Program you will be able to register with Yoga Alliance UK & USA as a 300hr Yoga Teacher as well as having 500hrs towards your 500hr certification.
For more information please visit Yoga Alliance & Yoga Alliance UK.
WHAT SUPPORT DO I GET FROM THE FACULTY DURING THE TRAINING?
If you are doing the full 300hr Program you will be allocated a mentor that can support you during your training. You will also receive full support throughout your training from the lead facilitators, assistants and a peer buddy system to help with questions, support and accountability.
HOW MUCH TIME DO I HAVE TO DEDICATE TO THE TRAINING OUTSIDE OF THE CONTACT HOURS?
If you aren't training to be a teacher with appleyoga then there will be some pre-course reading to enjoy to fully benefit from the course work.
If you are training to be a teacher with appleyoga then a large amount of time is needed outside of the course hours to complete the Omwork that is set. Please note that there is time between each modules to complete these and mentors will be at hand to help, should it be needed. We highly recommend planning and scheduling your time well during this period to make sure you have time set aside to complete your work within the timelines set.
A dedicated daily practice is expected for teacher trainees to improve and absorb the coursework, in order to fully benefit and grasp the information taught, in preparation to hold the seat of a yoga teacher.
